Welcome to the Tierra Verde Ranchettes site. This site was created to update the information and images for the Private Community located in New Mexico adjacent to the El Malpais, El Morro, and Chain of Craters areas of New Mexico.
Tierra Verde Ranchettes is a beautiful private community that is on the Continental Divide. It is surrounded by the El Malpais National Park, El Malpais Conservation Area, Zuni Indian Reservation, Ramah Navajo Indian Reservation, Chain-Of-Craters Wilderness Study Area, and the Cibola National Forest. The volcanos Cerro Leonides and Cerro Americano are adjacent to Tierra Verde Ranchettes community. Tierra Verde Ranchettes comprises 580 lots on 4470 Acres of land. Restrictive Covenants are in place and can be viewed on the downloads page.
Tierra Verde is approximately 30 Miles West of Grants, New Mexico. Take Route 53 “Ice Caves Road” to the Cerro Bandero Crater and turn off onto Cibola County Road 42. As you reach Cerro Americano, follow the fork right to drive around the Cerro Americano and you will turn left into the Tierra Verde Subdivision. You can view the land plots by clicking the link HERE and R07842 is the first parcel at the main TVR entrance which you can use to "find" TVR in the application.
The nearest town to Tierra Verde Ranchettes is Grants New Mexico and it is about 35 miles to the Northeast of Tierra Verde Ranchettes. Grants is an old mining town on what used to be Route 66 and it has many conveniences such as restaurants, shops, a museum, hotels, campgrounds and even a Walmart Supercenter. The city of Albuquerque is about an hour East from Grants on the I-40 and Gallup is about an hour West on the I-40.
Tierra Verde Ranchettes is located off a rough dirt road that may be impassable at times and a AWD/4WD vehicle with reasonable clearance is recommended. Notate the warning signs when entering the county road. Dry conditions provide reasonable access on the county road however the road around Cerro Americano and in Tierra Verde Ranchettes can be quite rough. Note this is a private community; land is privately owned and permission to Camp, Hunt, Etc. would be required.
